Apointment & online Only. Under "shop" hours instead of no listing should say online & apt only. Sounds like a good Instructor. I wish more kite Schools & Instructors were more upfront about time spent on safety & seting up gear.
I wish Everett Brown "Better Days". Its always best if a student comes to a lesson "Ready to Learn". Unfortunately, some students act as if they already know it all. Your wife signed you up to attend this "Beginner Group Lesson" A "Private Beyond Basics Lesson" would have fit your style better. Everette was shown how to perform ALL these skills and did spend substantial time flying the kite: - Kite theory - Site selection - Kite set up - Safety systems - Equipment orientation - Self launch 1& 2 - Basic kite flying technique - Self landing the kite : 1 & 2 - Kite de-power methods - Essential flying patterns - Kite Touch downs - Relaunching the kite - Traveling while flying the kite - Proper Body position for power and riding - Advanced flying techniques - Light wind flying techniques - Kite loops - Reverse kite launching - Flying the kite by feel - One handed flying - Emergency de-powering the kite - Kite breakdown and Everett had 30+ minutes of independent flying time to practice those skills while the others tried to catch up to his skill level. Kiteboarding is an EXTREME Sport and the instructors commands are not always "Sugar Coated". When a student does not pay attention or follow the instructions given, things can get dangerous quickly. Instructors must raise their voice in the lesson, if it helps stop unsafe actions and/or damage to property. Let's be honest .... Everette did NOT pay for the lesson .... all lesson money was fully refunded when i found out he was unhappy. Hanna G, did not write her negative review ... Everette did. I wish you well.

Loves to hear himself talk and brag about himself and teaching everything the "right way". Unfortunately there's little instruction (out of a 4 hour lesson I got maybe 20 minutes of instruction), few chances to ask questions, and you get yelled at for not doing it the right way the first time, and no positive reinforcement. I'm sure that he's a great kiteboarder on his own, however he's the type of person who's good at something but can't teach it to someone else because he's good at it.
I had a great lesson with John. Easily the best instructor I have had, he really had some great pointers. I'm looking forward to using his line management technique when I get home!
