Hello, I'm sorry you were disappointed with our dilation policy. At Access Eye the most important part of any visit is the overall health of the eye. A glasses or contact lens prescription will always come second to evaluating and ensuring the health of your eyes. Since many eye conditions can go undetected, a comprehensive exam is essential. As eyecare clinicians, they cannot safely and effectively perform their job without a complete examination of the back of the eye. The only way to obtain that exam without further testing and expense to our patients is to dilate. As a point of comparison, this would be the same as refusing to have your blood pressure checked at the cardiologist. I do agree that not all providers view this as a standard of care for a comprehensive eye exam. That is not our philosophy at Access Eye, and many people chose us because we provide complete medical eyecare. We are paid no more or less for this service. While dilation is not required yearly, it should happen at the appropriate intervals as determine by our providers. First time using this location and the doctor I had dr. yang. Questions me on getting my eyes dialated. I got my eyes dilated in the past and it messes with my vision. She said it's a requirement to get them dialated every year. She said in order for you to see me you need to dialate your eyes. It's not a requirement and it's a choice. I choose not too and been at alot of different eye places that don't force me to get it done. Glad to have got my prescription done. Not very happy with how I was treated and will not be coming back.
