I actually loved the Royal Scam the atmosphere is great, the food is very good! The couple of times I've been there the customer service has been good but on yesterday the customer service was not welcoming! I felt like I wasnt welcome nor belonged. I went for lunch then walked around a little downtown then went back for a couple of drinks with a group of my girlfriends soon as we walked in for drinks the host grabbed my gf by her arm and asked, "Do you need a table" as if we were trying to just come in to use the restroom without being a customer which was not true because we were heading to the bar! I understand it was mardi Gras and ppl may try to come use the restroom with out being paying customers but as we were sitting waiting to be served I sat and watched so many ppl walked in and weren't treat the way we were! It saddens me that I've spent a lot of money earler that day and the the previous times I've been there and was treated like we weren't welcomed!

The food was okay. The salad and bread pudding were tasty. My grilled mahi was dry. My hubby ordered the chicken dish and the chicken was dry. Our waiter, Daniel, was very good. Polite and very attentive. Would I go back, probably not.

The service at The Royal Scam restaurant is over the top. Kara treated us like we were the only patrons, and took our order in a friendly and conversational way; I was actually amazed how she remembered it all. She cheerfully stayed late because we arrived into town near closing time. I had the boudin balls, the Scam (tenderloin) Sandwich, a Deacon Blue, and a chocolate creme brulee. Anyone who has never had chocolate creme brulee is truly an unfortunate soul. The Royal Scam sets the bar quite high on this dessert. The sandwich was also delicious. The meat was so tender and savory. It seems silly to rate french fries considering how fancy the food is at The Royal Scam, but they are top notch. And yes, the restaurant and Deacon Blue cocktail names were inspired by the Steely Dan songs.

Limited menu and prices a little expensive for what's offered. Service was very good though.
