Thanks for your comments. We are actually a Scottish reminiscence charity our 'hands on museum' is designed to bring back memories for the young, old, local and international. We also bring in older peoples groups and school classes to get a flavour of the past or draw out some memories. It works for the majority, over 47,000 last year but hey you can't please everyone. Love the description of the 'dishevelled lurking owner.' That's me. Fantastic I'm a full blown Dickensian character, I'm like one of the items on display. Miles

This museum is across from the Royal Yacht Britannia drawing in, I assume, their discharge. It contains the word shop in the name. It is located in a shopping mall. And for all the world, it resembles one of those antiques shops that you pass on the road and think how do those people survive selling all of this junk? On entering, ones impulse is to turn over this old iron and that Victorian blown glass bowl, inspecting them with an aire of seriousness in order to maintain the dignity of the owner who hovers nearby with the hope of making a sale when in fact, you are thinking about how to politely beat a fast retreat without seeming too eager. Then you find something mildly cool: a mechanics lamp with a wood handle. Maybe this would look nice in the bedroom over the desk, you say to your partner. Yep, I like it comes the response. Could I bother you for a price? you ask of the slightly disheveled lurking owner. Im sorry, but this is a museum comes the response. Putting down the lamp, you beat a fast retreat stifling a snicker. At a minimum, this place needs to give its collection a bit more context. But mostly, unless you are sadly lacking access to your own tatty neighborhood antique shop, it is simply one more store at Oceanside that you should walk past silently on your way to the food court.
Thank you Diane. Great to see you and the group back.

I work in a local care home and have visited the LMA on many occasions, we have always enjoyed our visits and have a great time reminiscing and chatting to the staff who are always friendly and welcoming . Our visit today for the community singing group was lovely and thank you to Miles for our cuppa and biscuits . The LMA is a little gem in a busy shopping mall and I can honestly say if you visit you will not be disappointed Diane
