My mother and I visited this store to pick out carpet for her home. The sales person was nice and helpful, but was standing much too close for our comfort. He was also not wearing a face covering. I know this is a controversial issue in Indiana, so we did not say anything and had our own face coverings on. For first appointment my mother made to have her home measured for carpet no one showed up or called. She had to make a second appointment. When the man showed up she asked him to wear a face covering to enter her home, and he refused and said he did not have to. He also said he was unvaccinated. That doesnt make sense at all! So thankfully she asked him to leave immediately and has since taken her business elsewhere. I wanted to put this review here so that people that are protective of their health during this time, like my mother who is a senior, can make an informed decision as to whether to use this company. Its inconsiderate, disrespectful, unprofessional, and unfortunate.
First impressions were good but it went downhill after that. They spent time helping us in the showroom. We made our selections and scheduled installation. Installer was friendly but let us know when he got here he was supposed to have a helper so he may not get it done himself that day. He didn't finish and promised to come back the next morning, so we stayed home all day and he never showed up. We emailed the sales office, they apologized and sent him back the next day to finish. We paid a little extra to have a repair done to a seam in our basement, but the installer said there wasn't anything he could do to fix the seam, so I have been asking for a partial reimbursement for that and have been met with complete silence for over 6 weeks. No responses whatsoever. I waited to write this to give them some time, but am pretty disappointed. We chose this company because we had a good experience in the showroom and they are locally owned but we will have to find another locally owned place next time. Update: They sent a partial reimbursement a few months later so I added a star.
Using Michael's for our flooring has been the most disappointing flooring experience we've ever had and we would not recommend them to anyone. The crew tried to pull their van into our yard instead of just carrying the carpet 25 feet from our driveway to our back door. The ground was extremely soft which was very obvious but they tried anyway. This resulted in two very large and very deep ruts in our yard. They backed out and tried again and only made it worse. We had also just painted the floor in our master bedroom so I very explicitly told the crew that nothing should go in that room and I closed the door. I came back to find the door open and all of the remaining scraps of carpet had been tossed in there. The floor had to be entirely repainted because when the crew walked in the room with their boots and also tossed the scraps on the floor, it scraped up the new paint. The two rooms and hallway we had carpet laid in have painted baseboards and they all had to be almost completely repainted as well. Some of the scrapes and gouges on the baseboards needed to be filled in because they were so deep. This went well beyond the normal wear and tear that laying carpet entails. We also found large sections of our walls that had scrapes on them that required repainting. Basically every room that had carpet laid required a few hours of repainting to be done. When I went in to pay, it was later in the evening and there was only one person there. He was extremely apologetic and told me he would get this corrected right away. I told him I really just wanted to pay and be done with it but he said absolutely not, you're not going to pay until we get this all sorted out. So the next day I received a call from Casey who had been helping us from the beginning of the process. She asked me questions about what happened and basically dismissed me and all my complaints. According to her, these are all normal things that happen during carpet instillation so they weren't at fault. She proceeded to tell me that they weren't going to do anything about the price and that we still owed the full amount. When I had went in the night before, I didn't even ask for a reduction in price. I tried to pay but the man there wouldn't let me until they "sorted it out" so I'm not sure why she thought we were just after a cheaper price but that was an absurd assumption on her part. The whole process has just been a mess and we were extremely dissatisfied with the workers, the customer service, and the end result. I would suggest taking your business elsewhere.
