Shipping rates are high (a single small item can cost more than $12 in shipping) and items I want are often out of stock or not carried necessitating an order from a second vendor. The online interface could also use a renovation. For the basics, especially larger orders, they are fine.

Michelle, Thank you for being fair regarding the quality of our products. I am disappointed that we have not been able to reach a resolution. Per our conversation, we do not control shipping and customs fees charges. The rates we display are directly from the carrier and we do not add any surcharges to cover packing materials and labor. The costs you see are exactly what we pay to ship your package. We do have a shipping option that shows duties and taxes included as an option. The customer can select to have them included at the time of the order - or to pay them when their package arrives. Your order came through with FedEx as the selected carrier and without customs and duties added so FedEx is now billing you accordingly. Again, we have nothing to do with this. I am confused as you state in your review you chose FedEx. On the phone with me you were adamant that you had selected UPS and even sent me a screenshot of a UPS option without duties and taxes. During our repeated attempts to duplicate your order and replicate the problem the only time shipping options without duties and taxes came up was when there was only one product in the cart. If you subsequently added another item it would then exceed the threshold for no duties and taxes. We are a small, family business and work hard to please our customers. Im giving two stars because there is nothing wrong with the knife kits I received. The company however I would recommend avoiding. Im a pregnant mama so I am going to try to be as calm as possible and not let hormones rage when describing my incredibly frustrating experiences with Jantz. I was a return customer and my first experience was fine but not uneventful. I had placed and order and a few days later was contacted and the company. They let me know they were out of a product in my order. I was refunded and I purchased different products through them. Unfortunately that did make my gift arrive late but I was able to gift after Christmas. My second experience with Jantz was again with shipping. Upon checkout I was prompted with multiple options. I selected FedEx as it was not the cheapest option but had stated Taxes and Dutys would be included. The knives I ordered were about $30 and the shipping option was about $27. Days later I received a bill in the mail for $32 additional dutys and taxes. I log back into the website duplicated my cart and came up with the same shipping options. I took a screen shot to show Jantz what I was seeing. After emailing them with the photo and bill from FedEx the manager replied about two weeks later saying they have recently implemented new shipping options that include dutys and tax but it needs to be selected (I had selected this option), they also said they could not see the option to include duty and tax at checkout and when I once again looked all the shipping options were different and I also was no longer given the option and there were multiple different options available that were not listed when I had originally checked out.. their options on the website had changed. Jantz gave me two options 1. Pay the additional dutys and taxes or 2. Return the item at my own expense for an additional $30 to $40 on top of the shipping already paid. If you are considering making a purchase that requires shipping I would suggest looking at other companies.

Thanks for the great feedback Quentin. We definitely encourage people to take advantage of our flat rate shipping buy purchasing everything needed at once. We try to work with you if you forget a rivet or something small in a recent order but even small items have gotten expensive to ship in the USA.

Very misleading with their pictures and advertising. I thought I had ordered several blades from them. Turns out I ordered nothing but pommels, even though the online advertising showed a knife blade. And when the pommels arrived, they were drilled too big for any projects I had going.
