I did the edibles tour and it was extremely disorganized and the operations behind it felt disconnected. Presentation was 90 mins and very few of the MANY plants we learned about were on the 30 minute hike, that we had to drive 15 minutes to, and then wait another 15. While on the tour, there was very little guidance bc the group was too big and disorganizedby the end of the tour, a few people remained since everyone else left. THEN we had to drive back 15 minutes to finish the tour. Earthworks, you have such a cool idea, but you need to operationalize your tours and use your platform to truly teach to appreciate and care for natureour environment needs you. To eat 1 dandelion leaf and not have anything really prepared for us to consume was misleading, and I know there is plenty to forage and prep for us to truly learn from your tour and bring back into our lives. Im so disappointed in todays lack of order, professionalism, and effort.
A tracking workshop with Frank was the perfect way for my children, my wife and I to share the natural wonders of western Massachusetts with visiting relatives. All of the participants from age 6 to 60 delighted in spotting fresh tracks, finding bear marks and deer rubs on trees and learning how to distinguish one species from another based on prints, scat and movement patterns. A few hours with Frank opened up a previously hidden world that our children can now easily recognize. Our boys enjoyed themselves so much that they signed up for the At Home in the Woods summer program. The benefits of these programs are apparent every time our children step into the woods with a heightened awareness of the stories waiting to be discovered there.
My daughters bother reveled in the chance to be enveloped in nature and to learn new skills during their week at camp. They have always loved playing in the woods, and this camp allowed them an immense property with differing campgrounds and they played everywhere from field to stream. Building fires, lean-tos and learning to whittle are experiences they will not forget. They're already asking to return next year and have spoken so highly about the staff that I too cannot wait to send them back.
I had so much fun doing the survival skills weekend with my husband for our anniversary! Frank & his crew created a fun, relaxed & engaging learning environment! We learned so much! I would recommend his workshops to anyone who likes the outdoors!
