OMG! I'm in love. Where do I begin? With the wonderfully welcoming and inviting staff? They give you the space to look aroundhalf gallery, half store. Last time I was there I met one of the artists who shared their personal story and process. Or do I start with the unique pieces that speak to you, and invite you to take them home? They're impossible to resist! This is THE furniture store for furniture and design lovers: peerless pieces, each one designed and crafted by artists, from reclaimed and repurposed material (wood, metal). This place epitomizes the New York aesthetic. You have to come and check it out, and leave with a piece or two (or three or four)!
Great place to buy unique furniture. All made out of recycled wood and metal! They have benches made out bowling ally lanes, tables made from skateboards, and chairs made from oil drums! Not to mention friendly, non-pushy staff and great customer service. 10/10 would buy again
I had simply been walking toward Union Square when I stumbled on this absolutely MUST-SEE DESTINATION. I have never been inside a more sensational store. mebl is a store, but really, its more akin to an art gallery featuring the scrupulous curation of its tasteful owner, Michael Hirschhorn. If you live in NYC, this is an important destination. Immediately, you become mesmerized by mebl's unmistakable atmosphere. Environment-friendly and handcrafted, all furniture artworks are made from re-imaged materials (scrap wood, old metal, etc.) and imported from around the world. Within this massive collection, elements of each piece reveal fresh surprises. Each is a tantalizing discovery in varied color, age, assortment of materials and function. If you're in the market for furniture, do not miss the opportunity to have this modestly priced* furniture in your home. I'm writing this review in hopes that more people experience this exceptional place. *for inarguable quality and craftsmanship
