First generally meh experience at Hanks - I usually come here when Im in DC because Ive had such pleasant ones. I dined alone, and was placed in a back corner and basically forgotten from there. Took 15 minutes for a server to recognize I hadnt been helped. From then on I didnt seem to have a dedicated server, just folks who noticed I was there and would sometimes check in. As of now Ive been sitting for another 15 minutes waiting for someone to offer a checkdefinitely not a warm experience as a solo diner.
I wrote a review and the owner responded but didnt understand my complaint. I called for a reservation and was told I needed to come to the restaurant to make a reservation. This is unacceptable!! Calling should suffice. It is ridiculous to wait in the cold (or heat as the summer is coming) to be texted that your table is ready. There are many other restaurants on the wharf and more are coming (with phase two expansion plans). I will not be going back.
We went there on a Saturday afternoon. Even though it was very busy, service and food were amazing. The lady who Served us, Monique, was amazing and she went above and beyond to make it a great experience for us. Well definitely go back!
