Marie, Most of our complete eye exams are done in two parts. The first part is primarily involved with determining vision and eyeglass and/or contact lens prescription. Then eye drops are instilled to dilate the pupils, which require approximately 20 minutes to work . Lastly, patients return to the exam room for the eye health portion of the exam and a discussion of what was found (or not found). We do offer Optomap retinal imaging for those who do not wish to wait for the drops or experience the blurred near vision that comes along with them. Most patient exams begin within 5 minutes of them walking through our door, it would be unusual for any patient to wait longer than 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the exam, and nearly unheard of to wait more than 30 minutes. Did you mean it took an hour and a half from your scheduled exam time to the completion of the exam? That would certainly be longer than normal (a patient scheduled at 2:00 who requires dilation should expect to leave between 3:00 and 3:15), but it wouldn't be unheard of. I am very concerned that you felt someone was rude to you. That is completely unacceptable at our office. I would appreciate it if you called the office and asked to speak to me so I can figure out what happened and how best to reprimand the employee who you felt was rude to you. Ive been here twice and both times I have had to wait for hours. The first time it was 3 and it was a normal appt. the second time was also a normal exam and it was an hour and a half wait. The appt did not take long at all. They started my appt and then made me wait for 40 mins while they took everyone else before they went back to me. Who does that? The brunette woman at the desk with the purple computer (not the one closest to the entrance) should be fired! Shes so rude when we asked if we were going to be helped again. Hope they close! But the blonde lady Kelly is the nicest and she should be given a raise. Everyone there should follow her example!!! :)

Doctor visit was great, never received a call back to advise me that my glasses were ready, very unprofessional, never received a message, and 2 months later i had to call them to find out they were ready for pick up since May, you had the glasses sitting in your office, another courtesy call wouldn't of hurt.

We do require new patients to get dilated. The ocular health of our patients is our primary concern at Neal Eye Group. We realize it is inconvenient/annoying and this is why we offer Optomap retinal imaging for future visits.

Pros: location is very convenient, I do not have to drive to northern liberties to get my eyes check although this is done annually. The facility seems clean and well kept. Cons: I have specifically asked not to get my eyes dilated. All of the optometrist offices that I have been to in the past have allowed the option of not getting this done.. However at this establishment, all new patients are required to get their eyes dilated. Okay.. thats fine.. but it would be nice to have someone explain to me the side effects of getting my eyes dilated rather than asking for an explanation after the fact and what is applied onto my eyes before proceeding. Its uneasy and scary that your vision is blurry for 2 hours, especially if this is your first time. The optometrist could have expressed some empathy towards the situation. No one likes to go into a procedure (no matter how complex or simple) blindly ha, literally.
