Every year when my Granddaughter went the food was free along with recreation. This year sucked. I'm just glad I had cash on me . Next year we will not be going

Our 11 year old was signed up for 3 weeks of summer camp, based on the descriptions of what was offered each week. We're so absolutely disappointed in several aspects of our first O'Fallon day camp experience. I have nothing positive to offer. The camp descriptions are delightful--but the actual camp experience was awful. Advertised fishing. Didn't happen. Advertised archery. Didnt happen. Advertised everything so well--but fell short on all accounts. The counselors at the drop off/pick up were rude. Absolutely rude. The process is efficient and totally simple enough-parent pulls up, gives counselors kids name, and they radio for the kid to come. Easy peasy. Every time I gave our daughter's name I got an odd look (sorry we aren't all named Jenny Jones or something familiar or similar). Even my sister mentioned how off putting they were on the one day she picked our daughter up. Unnecessary. Tacky. Such a bad impression. The camp counselors (namely Garrett and Nick) are not well trained and speak rudely to the campers (you suck; brat; loser). Granted, the counselors are high school kids---but if you sign up to be a camp counselor, you should actually WANT to be around kids all day. You can speak to your own child in whatever way--but not someone else's child, and certainly not as an adult responsible for a group of kids. It really makes me wonder---but now I understand WHY there is zero contact between parents and counselors. One counselor even said, "I'll fight your mom..." As if. Really???? Where are we, exactly????? I ended up pulling our daughter out and getting a refund. This is the last place I'd trust with anyone's child! For once, Fairview Heights' Camp Kodiak wins, followed by the O'Fallon YMCA. I'm so disappointed in our experience. I sincerely hope this is not indicative of what the City of O'Fallon has to offer--because we will move out as quickly as we moved in. What a let down.

The park has bathrooms that are still available to use. The park is very clean and there's plenty of trash cans. And on a day like this you can hear the hear the kids on their playground playing while I enjoy sitting on a picnic table.
