Lane's has been my go to bakery for twenty years. The Madisonian torte was always a favorite. Since the bakery moved to it's new location it just isn't the same. Madisonian tortes were routinely available at the old location. Now they are special order and don't hold a candle to the old ones. The past couple of cakes I have purchased there weren't very good. Last Friday I made a special trip there to buy a cake for my wife's 50th birthday. It was a chocolate on chocolate out of the counter refrigerator. It was so dry and stale we didn't even finish our pieces and threw the whole cake away. Such a shame. I won't be returning.

Visited this place on a whim as I was passing through and asked if they would pack the cookies so they didn't crumble while I was traveling. The lady was very friendly and took the extra time to do a thorough job. They made it through TSA and the plane ride, they were in perfect shape when I got back to St. Louis!
